Football Recap: Center Point Takes a Loss

The matchup between Center Point and D'Hanis on Friday hardly resembled the 14-0 effort from their previous meeting. The contest between the Pirates and the Cowboys didn't end well, with the Pirates falling 39-20. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 14-0 to the Cowboys when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

A big part of D'Hanis' victory came down to the chemistry between Evan Craft and his top target Kase Braden. Craft threw for 389 yards and six TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes while Braden picked up 107 receiving yards and four scores. Craft's passing game has become a key predictor of D'Hanis' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. The Cowboys also got a significant boost from Cannon Zachry, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.

Center Point has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for D'Hanis, their record now sits at 4-5.

Center Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for D'Hanis, they will square off against Granger at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
