Basketball Recap: Pine Piles Up the Points Against Village Academy

It's playoff time, and Pine had no trouble coming through when it counted. They claimed a resounding 62-22 win over the Village Academy Tigers. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 399th, while the Tigers are ranked 825th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pine to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wade Singleton, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 15 points along with eight boards and five assists. Those five assists gave Singleton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maverick Wycoki, who went 6 of 10 en route to 16 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Pine and bumps their season record up to 13-12. As for Village Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-15 with the loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Pine will challenge Lake Worth Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Lake Worth Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups. Village Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
