Softball Recap: Swenson Arts & Tech Comes Up Short

Swenson Arts & Tech had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it 11. They lost 19-4 to the MAST Community Charter Panthers. That's two games in a row now that the Lion have lost by exactly 15 runs.

As for MAST Community Charter, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

For MAST Community Charter's part, Jordan Jennings was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jennings has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, MAST Community Charter got a massive performance out of Grace LaPorte, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave LaPorte a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jessica Leinenbach, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Swenson Arts & Tech will square off against Philadelphia Performing Arts at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Lion will need to watch out since the Knight have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for MAST Community Charter, they will head out to take on Academy Park at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
