Recap: Hayfork Timberjacks vs. Butte Valley Bulldogs
The Hayfork Timberjacks pushed their score all the way to 64 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 76-64 to Butte Valley. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hayfork in their matchups with Butte Valley: they've now lost seven in a row.
Hayfork's loss came despite strong showings from Tatem Wiley and Levi Cavalli. Wiley scored 20 points, while Cavalli scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Cavalli scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Evan Pickett, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Hayfork were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Hayfork's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Butte Valley, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Hayfork won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Etna at 11:30 p.m. on January 5th. As for Butte Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Hayfork at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Hayfork's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests.
