Baseball Recap: Wayne Memorial Drops Highest Score of Season Against Dearborn

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Midland, Wayne Memorial was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Dearborn Pioneers 7-6. The Zebras' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Braylon Wright and Noah O'Neil made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Wright struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, O'Neil struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). At bat, Wright scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while O'Neil scored a run while going 3-for-4. That run was O'Neil's first of the season.

In other batting news, Donny West was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Padrig Glennon, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Wayne Memorial's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Dearborn, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Wayne Memorial will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pioneers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
