Softball Game Preview: Conant Cougars vs. Willowbrook Warriors + Official Tickets

The Conant Cougars will challenge the Willowbrook Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

Conant easily dispatched Saint Viator last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Cougars fell just short of Lane Tech by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since May 30, 2025.

Conant saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Schiffner, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Kiana Leopoldo also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Willowbrook didn't have quite enough to beat Montini Catholic on Thursday and fell 12-10. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Liz Pettinger made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleena McNamara, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Conant's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Willowbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-14.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Conant hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Willowbrook struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
