Baseball Game Preview: Pahoa Daggers vs. Hawaii Prep Ka Makani

For the second straight game, Pahoa will face off against Hawaii Prep. The Daggers will be playing at home against the Ka Makani at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pahoa 2.5, Hawaii Prep 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Pahoa is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Hawaii's top teams: Hawaii Prep, who was ranked tenth at the time (Pahoa was ranked fifth). The Daggers lost 10-2 to the Ka Makani on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Hawaii Prep's part, Nishiki Iwai and Lex Ni were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Iwai tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Ni pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Iwai went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Ni went 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ren Kamoshita-Langan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Owen Smith was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Pahoa's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Hawaii Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
