Soccer Game Preview: Antioch vs. Miramonte

The Antioch Panthers will face off against the Miramonte Matadors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Antioch faced off against Liberty on Friday. Antioch took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Liberty. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 852nd, while the Lions are ranked 202nd).

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2024, Miramonte was forced to settle for a draw on Saturday. They and Pinole Valley finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw.

James Rogers and Bennett Caspari scored both of Miramonte's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Antioch's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 2-7-3. Miramonte's draw gives them a new season record of 3-1-3.

Antioch beat Miramonte by a goal when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 2-1. Will Antioch repeat their success, or does Miramonte have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
