Football Recap: Madisonville Comes Up Short

Madisonville had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 5-3 to make it four. They were outmatched by the Sealy Tigers and fell 42-10. The contest marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Madisonville lost, don't look at Jaden Simpson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 118 yards and one TD while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Simpson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 118 rushing yards.

As for Sealy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Kane Killough, who rushed for 181 yards and one score while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. Weston Cryan was Killough's top target, picking up 81 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Looking ahead, Madisonville will be playing at home against Bellville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Brahmas have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Sealy, they will head out on the road to face off against Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
