Baseball Recap: Granville Christian Academy Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Granville Christian Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let the Cristo Rey Cougar get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Friday.

Matthew Riedel and Aiden Geiger were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Riedel pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Geiger pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Riedel posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Riedel scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Geiger scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Jacob Fabbro was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Layton Sheppard, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granville Christian Academy will take on Millersport at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cristo Rey, they will head out to take on Liberty Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
