Volleyball Recap: Tompkins Beats Morton Ranch for Their 11th Straight Victory

Tompkins came tearing into Thursday's match with ten straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Morton Ranch Mavericks with a sharp 3-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Tompkins' got stronger as the match went on, holding Morton Ranch to fewer and fewer points set over set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-9, 25-7.

Leading Tompkins to victory were Lainey Monroe and Drew Merrell. Monroe had nine digs and five aces, while Merrell had 23 assists and three digs. Merrell has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 11 times she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Tompkins was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in ten consecutive matchups.

Tompkins' record is now 30-5. As for Morton Ranch, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-23.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tompkins will take on rival Cinco Ranch at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Morton Ranch is set to face off against their familiar foe Mayde Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
