Volleyball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Rampart

Chaparral faced Rampart in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wolverines lost 3-0 to the Rams. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2018.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rampart to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabriella Melecio, who had 17 digs and four assists. Melecio is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Clarose, who had 13 digs.

Chaparral has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-6 record this season. As for Rampart, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-2.

Chaparral has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Lutheran on the 1st. As for Rampart, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Windsor on the 1st.
