Basketball Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hollister last Monday, Mt. Vernon came back down to earth. The Mt. Vernon Mountaineers took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springfield Catholic Fighting Irish on Thursday. The Mountaineers haven't had much luck with the Fighting Irish recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Springfield Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Mt. Vernon will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Aurora at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. As for Springfield Catholic, they will face off against Diamond at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
