Soccer Game Preview: Anderson vs. University Prep

Anderson is 1-9 against University Prep since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Anderson Cubs will venture away from home to face off against the University Prep Panthers at 5:15 p.m.

Anderson and Lassen faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Thursday. Both finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw. The outcome might've been different if Alexis Soto hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

Gavin Lockhart was the only thing that stood between Anderson and a shutout considering he scored both of Anderson's goals, bringing his season total up to two goals.

Meanwhile, University Prep entered their tilt with West Valley on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Eagles onto the board and left with a 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won four matches by three goals or more so far this season.

University Prep is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those eight contests. Anderson's draw makes their record 4-7-3 this season.

Anderson suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to University Prep when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Anderson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
