Preview: Copley Indians vs. Gilmour Academy Lancers
The Copley Indians will head out on the road to take on the Gilmour Academy Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Copley is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games.
Copley can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent contest last Saturday. They really took it to Tallmadge for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-28 win on the road. Given Copley's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Tallmadge is ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Izzy Callaway, who scored 23 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Copley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Van voorhis, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Gilmour Academy beat Magnificat 51-46 on Tuesday.
Copley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. As for Gilmour Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.
Copley couldn't quite finish off Gilmour Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 and fell 54-51. Can Copley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
