The Apex Friendship Patriots will square off against the Apex Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Apex Friendship is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Apex Friendship is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Willow Spring just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Storm by a score of 4-2. The Patriots were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Storm's pitcher proved too tough.
Apex Friendship saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Marquis, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Apex had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the Catamounts 13-2. Considering the Cougars have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Audrey Mulaski spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Addie Louder was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Kendall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Apex was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Apex's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Apex Friendship, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Apex Friendship hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Apex struggles in that department as they've averaged .381. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Apex Friendship came out on top in a nail-biter against Apex in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
