Volleyball Recap: St. Francis Falls Despite Big Games from Kathryn Kopec and Addi Samolinski

St. Francis had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 18-10 to make it four. They fell just short of the St. Laurence Vikings by a score of 2-1. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Vikings when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

St. Francis' loss came despite strong showings from Addi Samolinski and Kathryn Kopec. Samolinski had 14 digs and two aces, while Kopec had 16 digs. Samolinski is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Grace Grover also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

As for St. Laurence, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since September 20th.

Leah Romano went supernova, getting 24 digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September.

Coming up, St. Francis will be taking part in a tournament against Plainfield East at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Laurence, they will take on Lincoln-Way East at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
