Basketball Recap: Exeter Comes Up Short

Exeter extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-14. They came up short against the Wheaton Bulldogs, falling 79-58. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 35-27 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

As for Wheaton, their win bumped their record up to 12-13. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Brody Bateman was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds. He also posted three blocks, which is notable because Wheaton is 2-1 when he posts at least three blocks, but 10-12 otherwise. Kaman Kinnaman was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 14 boards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Exeter will take on Northeast Vernon County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wheaton, they will venture away from home to challenge Galena at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
