Baseball Recap: Troy Has No Trouble Against Lapwai

Troy got themselves on the board against Lapwai on Monday, but Lapwai never followed suit. They blew past the Wildcats 15-0. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Makhi Durrett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Troy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Javan Barton was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted over his last ten contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Archer Barton, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Troy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lapwai only posted an OBP of .462.

Troy's record is now 10-7. As for Lapwai, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Troy beat the Wildcats by a score of 12-2 later that day.
