Recap: Veterans Warhawks vs. Tift County Blue Devils

After flying high against the Perry Panthers last Saturday, the Veterans Warhawks came back down to earth. Veterans took a 69-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

When it comes to explaining why Veterans lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Antonio ??tone?? scott. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Tristen Abner, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tift County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tristan Boone, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Boone pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of TeShawn Bryant, who scored 14 points along with two steals.

Veterans has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Tift County, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Veterans' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Thomas County Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Warhawks are ranked 122nd). As for Tift County, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully the Blue Devils likes a good challenge.
