Baseball Game Preview: Riverdale Falcons vs. Mohawk Warriors

The Riverdale Falcons will face off against the Mohawk Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mohawk took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Riverdale, who comes in off a win.

Riverdale is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Ridgemont by a score of 14-9 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Grady Phelps made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only one earned run while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Riverdale is 4-1 when Phelps posts two or more runs, but 2-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jackson Armrose was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Dominick Miller was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Mohawk fell victim to Upper Sandusky and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 8-0 to the Rams. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Riverdale's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Mohawk, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-12.

Riverdale came up short against Mohawk in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
