Football Game Preview: Haines City Hornets vs. Ridge Community Bolts

Haines City is a perfect 5-0 against Ridge Community since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hornets will take on the Bolts at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ridge Community will be up against a hot Haines City squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 14. The Hornets blew past George Jenkins 39-19 on Wednesday. Haines City's victory was all the more impressive since the Eagles were averaging only 8.5 points allowed on the season.

Haines City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zebrielle Canaday and Mikayla Hill.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Ridge Community rose to the challenge on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 25-0 shutout.

Ridge Community's win came from a few key players Haines City will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Antinayah Sims, who rushed for 104 yards and two TDs on only six carries. She has become a key player for Ridge Community: the team is undefeated when she posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 6-7 otherwise. Abegael Benoit was another key player, gaining 36 total yards and two touchdowns.

Ridge Community has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.0 points on average over those games. As for Haines City, they pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Haines City strolled past Ridge Community in their previous matchup back in March by a score of 25-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
