Basketball Recap: Glenwood Springs Comes Up Short

Glenwood Springs and Mullen squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Glenwood Springs had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Mullen Mustangs 69-18. While losing is never fun, the Demons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Mustangs are ranked 12th).

Ivee Enewold was Glenwood Springs' leading scorer, having posted ten points. Lyndsay Helms held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. Chloe Davies took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Makenzie Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mullen, shooting 78% from the field en route to 32 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. The last time Jones' field goal percentage was this high was back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Pelster, who posted six points along with five assists and three steals.

Glenwood Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Mullen, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Glenwood Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mullen, they will face off against Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Berkley Schneider and Jones.
