Volleyball Recap: Rushford-Peterson Trojans vs. Southland Rebels

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cotter, Rushford-Peterson was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They won by a set and slipped past the Southland Rebels 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2023.

Rushford-Peterson took Southland into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 26-24, 26-24, 21-25, 15-10.

Rushford-Peterson was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southland only served seven.

Southland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Abby Sorgatz, who had 35 digs, two aces, and a kill. Sorgatz is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maren Wehrenberg, who had 13 digs, four kills, and 40 assists.

The win got Rushford-Peterson back to even at 9-9. As for Southland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.

Rushford-Peterson has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against LeRoy-Ostrander on the 12th. As for Southland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Mabel-Canton on the 14th.
