Recap: Richwood Lumberjacks vs. Bath County Chargers

This season hasn't been kind to the Richwood Lumberjacks, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They fell 62-52 to Bath County on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Richwood came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 49th in West Virginia, while Bath County is ranked 379th in Virginia).

When it comes to explaining why Richwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grant Russell. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. The matchup was Russell's third in a row with at least ten points. Trae Trivolette was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Richwood's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Bath County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Highland the next time they take the court. Bath County will head out to face Highland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Richwood will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
