Hickory faced Great Bridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Hawks came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 6-2. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered a 6-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hickory's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Great Bridge, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
