Softball Recap: Devine Beats Floresville for Their Fourth Straight Win

Devine had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Floresville Tigers/Jaguars. For the Warhorses, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 victory the Tigers/Jaguars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Tucker Traylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kenny Cruz, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddy Hester, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Devine hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive contests.

Devine's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. As for Floresville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Looking ahead, Devine will head out on the road to challenge Uvalde at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Devine's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Uvalde's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Floresville, they will host Somerset at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Floresville is facing Somerset at the right time seeing as Somerset is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
