Softball Game Preview: Norton Science & Language Academy Rockets vs. Calvary Baptist Cougars

The Norton Science & Language Academy Rockets will square off against the Calvary Baptist Cougars at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Norton Science & Language Academy has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Calvary Baptist will arrive with five straight victories.

Norton Science & Language Academy lost 18-1 to Packinghouse Christian Academy on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Calvary Baptist got the win against Entrepreneur on Thursday by a conclusive 22-5. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 15 runs or more this season.

Bri Rosales made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rosales was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Isabel Chatoney was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Brianna Even was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Calvary Baptist was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Calvary Baptist pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Norton Science & Language Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
