Football Recap: Cherryville Starts Season with Victory Against North Stokes

Cherryville had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the North Stokes Vikings 68-8.

Jackson Heavner went supernova, rushing for 262 yards and five TDs on only nine carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Javarius McElhaney, who gained 30 total yards and two touchdowns.

Cherryville's run defense was locked in: North Stokes could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Landry Pruitt for the heroic effort on defense: he. Cherryville didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 23.5.

Cherryville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jayden Adams. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
