League recap: Chisholm scores huge upset over Alva

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Chisholm, who defeated 93rd ranked Alva, 27-13. Bryce Stewart ran for 193 yards in the win.

The Longhorns scaled the state rankings by moving to 97 from 125 this week, the biggest jump in 2A District 1. Chisholm climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Goldbugs 27-13.

Perry's dynamic duo of Cooper Skluzacek and Braden Sweet proved tough for Tonkawa to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Skluzacek threw for 127 yards and Sweet had 83 yards receiving. Braxton Williamson helped Perry's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 44 yards.

Matt Wilson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Joey Reinart's team bested Alva. The 6-foot-0 senior.

Stewart provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Longhorns defeated the Goldbugs.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Hennessey's Dylan Hatchel and Edgar Fierro have proven to be a lethal combination. Hatchel has thrown for 253 yards this season, while Fierro has 12 catches for 130 yards. Stewart from Chisholm leads the league in rushing with 700 yards.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Eagles and the Longhorns face off next week.

An important game coming up in 2A District 1 this week will be when Hennessey takes on Chisholm. As it stands, Rick Luetjen's team is in third, while the Longhorns are in first.

The league will see a high scoring game when the Eagles and Chisholm face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Hennessey comes in having scored 68 this season, while the Longhorns have scored 85. The Eagles scored 38 points last week as they beat Tulsa NOAH HomeSchool.

Newkirk was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Tigers defeated Pawnee 28-7.
