Basketball Recap: Lake Placid Dragons vs. Fort Meade Miners
Lake Placid was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Fort Meade Miners, falling 66-31. The Dragons were not able to make up for their loss to the Miners from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.
Omari Russell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fort Meade, putting up 24 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Russell is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Mekhi Berrien was another key player, posting 14 points along with seven assists and seven boards.
Lake Placid's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Fort Meade, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Placid will host Avon Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Avon Park will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Lake Placid surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fort Meade, they will welcome Frostproof at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
