Basketball Game Preview: Burleson Elks vs. Mansfield Summit Jaguars

Burleson is 1-6 against Mansfield Summit since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Burleson Elks will head out to take on the Mansfield Summit Jaguars at 5:30 p.m.

Last Friday, 2025 welcomed Burleson with a 47-25 loss courtesy of Cleburne. While losing is never fun, the Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 751st, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 301st).

Meanwhile, Mansfield Summit entered their tilt with Joshua on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They had just enough and edged the Owls out 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jaguars have posted since November 11, 2023.

Mansfield Summit pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Burleson, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-16.

Burleson beat Mansfield Summit 46-33 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burleson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
