Federal Way might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-6 to Enumclaw, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meeghan Meagher was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Samantha Jolley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, White River had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Golden Gators as they made off with a 14-4 win. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.
Elliotte Kajita and Laken Elvig made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Kajita struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Elvig struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave Kajita a new career-high. At the plate, Kajita went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while Elvig went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.
In other batting news, Kennedy Selander was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Akins, who went 1-for-4 with three runs.
White River pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Federal Way, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
Federal Way suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to White River in their previous matchup on April 1st. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
