Preview: Sandhills Valley Mavericks vs. Twin Loup Wolves
Sandhills Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Twin Loup Wolves on Friday. Sandhills Valley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Tuesday, Sandhills Valley was beaten by Maywood/Hayes Center 60-6. Sandhills Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-2.
Twin Loup can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They strolled past Palmer with points to spare, taking the game 49-33. The win was just what Twin Loup needed coming off of a 49-24 defeat in their prior contest.
Twin Loup can attribute much of their success to Cassidy Grint, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds. Those 20 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Madison Glidden, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Sandhills Valley's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Twin Loup, their win bumped their record up to 1-4.
Sandhills Valley might still be hurting after the 58-37 defeat they got from Twin Loup when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Sandhills Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
