Basketball Recap: Mapleton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Triangle Lake last Thursday, Mapleton came back down to earth. The Mapleton Sailors came up short against the Powers Cruisers on Monday, falling 56-31. The defeat continues a trend for the Sailors in their matchups with the Cruisers: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Mapleton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lucie Burruss posted 16 points and three steals.

Mapleton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Powers, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-10.

Looking ahead, Mapleton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Crow/City First Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Powers, they will head out on the road to take on Rogue Valley Adventist at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
