Basketball Recap: Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Central Catholic was the 65-60 winner over Mountain House when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Central Catholic Raiders lost 74-48 to the Mountain House Mustangs on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Central Catholic lost, don't look at Manjot Mann. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 16 en route to 21 points and six boards. Thanks to that strong game, Mann now owns an excellent 45.4% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Brendan Carter, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Mountain House's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Coldin Parker led the charge by putting up 21 points and eight boards. Parker continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Williams, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Central Catholic's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 15-11. As for Mountain House, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Catholic will welcome Manteca at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Central Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season. As for Mountain House, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Union at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain House also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 62.3 points per game.
