Preview: Green City Gophers vs. La Plata Bulldogs
The Green City Gophers will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the La Plata Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. La Plata took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Green City, who comes in off a win.
Green City scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Linn County on the road to the tune of 99-23. Green City has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Green City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xander Salas, who almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, nine assists, and nine steals. Salas is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaden Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, La Plata's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 60-42 to Sturgeon. That's two games in a row now that La Plata has lost by exactly 18 points.
Green City is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. As for La Plata, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-12.
Everything came up roses for Green City against La Plata when the teams last played last Monday as the team secured a 70-39 win. With Green City ahead 47-15 at the half, the match was all but over already.
