Soccer Game Preview: Northwest vs. Lexington

Northwest is 0-4 against Lexington since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Vikings will square off against the Minutemen at 7:30 p.m. Northwest will be strutting in after a victory while Lexington will be coming in after a loss.

If Northwest beats Lexington with two goals on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past York 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Northwest.

Meanwhile, Lexington faced Kearney in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Bearcats who were credited with the victory. Kearney got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Lexington's three. Lexington's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Their goal came courtesy of Edin Lima Miranda, which was the first he's scored this season.

Northwest now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for Lexington, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.

Northwest might still be hurting after the 4-0 defeat they got from Lexington when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
