Basketball Recap: The Williams School Comes Up Short

The Williams School played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 53-26 loss at the hands of the Rocky Hill Country Day Mariners. The Blues haven't had much luck with the Mariners recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Rocky Hill Country Day's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lily Sokol, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Sokol a new career-high in rebounds. Izabella Macari was another key player, putting up eight points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.

The Williams School's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Rocky Hill Country Day, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

The Williams School will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Christian Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on January 13, 2025. As for Rocky Hill Country Day, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-21 defeat against Academy at Penguin Hall on the 16th.
