Baseball Game Preview: Basic Wolves vs. Bishop Gorman Gaels

The Basic Wolves are taking a road trip to challenge the Bishop Gorman Gaels at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Bishop Gorman will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Basic extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Wolves never let Faith Lutheran get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory.

Johnny Villarreal looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Lyndon Lee was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallon Cegavske, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Bishop Gorman not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10, 2025 (when they won 10-0). They blew past Shadow Ridge 12-2. The Gaels haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Dylan Blinn looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Chase Wilk was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Logan Grubbs, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Basic skirted past Bishop Gorman 2-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gaels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
