Baseball Recap: Lyons Lions vs. Gananda Central Blue Panthers

Lyons had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-9 to make it eight. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gananda Central Blue Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-0 back in April.

As for Gananda Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

For Gananda Central's part, Brady Wadsworth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Wadsworth posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Henry Shutts, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Maddox Stoughton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
