Basketball Recap: Rio Rico Finds Home Court Redemption Against Sahuarita

There's no place like home for Rio Rico, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Sahuarita Mustangs by a score of 61-49 on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Sahuarita's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abby Silvester, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 17 points along with six boards and three steals. Silvester has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Benitez, who posted 14 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Rio Rico moved to 11-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Sahuarita, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-12.

Rio Rico has already played their next matchup (against Cholla), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sahuarita has already played their next contest, a 49-48 victory against Amphitheater on the 29th.
