Basketball Recap: Wheatland-Grinnell Comes Up Short

Wheatland-Grinnell and Dighton squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Wheatland-Grinnell had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Dighton Hornets and fell 62-16. The Thunderhawks haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Wheatland-Grinnell's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jackson Foster, who posted five points, and Spencer Beckman, who scored no points. Avyn Teeter also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

It was another big night for Daniel Cramer, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 18 points and five steals for Dighton. Cramer's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. George Von Leonrod was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Wheatland-Grinnell now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Dighton, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

Wheatland-Grinnell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dighton, they will square off against Hodgeman County at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dighton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Hodgeman County likes a good challenge.
