Basketball Recap: Glendale Find Success

Burroughs came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Glendale, but Jacob Samontina wouldn't allow it. The Glendale Nitros put the hurt on the Burroughs Bears with a sharp 76-50 win on Thursday thanks in part to Samontina, who went 12 for 15 on his way to 28 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games.

Another player making a difference was Joshua Ballard, who went 6 of 11 en route to 18 points and seven rebounds. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Burroughs' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elliot Lawrence, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Lanier, who posted ten points.

Glendale's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Burroughs, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-16.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Muir the next time they take the court. Burroughs will host Muir at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, while Glendale will head out to face them at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
