Meanwhile, Las Cruces faced La Cueva in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bulldawgs came up short against the Bears, falling 7-1. The Bulldawgs haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Zaysha Hawkins was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.

Las Cruces' defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Alamogordo, their loss dropped their record down to 18-10.
