Basketball Recap: Spanish Fork Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Springville, Spanish Fork was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 43-42 win over the Cedar Valley Aviators. For the Dons, this counts as revenge for the 76-66 victory the Aviators walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Spanish Fork got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gage Christensen out in front who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. Ben Clayson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Spanish Fork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Spanish Fork has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Cedar Valley, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-11.

Spanish Fork didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-35 loss against Orem on the 24th. Cedar Valley has also already played their next contest, a 63-57 victory against Maple Mountain on the 24th.
