Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Eagle Valley Devils

The Roosevelt Roughriders will square off against the Eagle Valley Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Roosevelt sitting on 12 straight wins and Eagle Valley on five.

Last Saturday, Roosevelt didn't have too much trouble with Thompson Valley as they won 65-50. Given the Roughriders' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th in Colorado, while the Eagles are ranked 76th in Colorado), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kyla Hollier was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 27 points and 16 boards. Her afternoon made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 23 points. Another player making a difference was Ryanne Bahnsen-Price, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They pulled down eight more offensive boards than Thompson Valley's also-impressive total of ten.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Eagle Valley had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Fusion by a score of 37-27.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.7 points. As for Eagle Valley, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.

Everything came up roses for Roosevelt against Eagle Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2021, as the team secured an 85-15 victory. Does Roosevelt have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eagle Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
