Softball Preview: University Titans vs. Winter Park Wildcats

The University Titans will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Winter Park Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Thursday, University came up short against Lake Howell and fell 6-3. The Titans have struggled against the Silverhawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Mia Fisher was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Winter Park hadn't done well against Windermere recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Winter Park sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Windermere. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Rylie Scanlon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs allowed (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Julia Hyatt was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Carrie Dulgar was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Winter Park, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
