Zaon Collins, Will McClendon look to lead Gaels to record 10th straight state title.
Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) begins the 2020-21 season with all the pieces to shatter the
national record with a 10th consecutive Nevada state championship.
The sixth-ranked Gaels feature one of the game's top backcourt duos as Zaon Collins (14 points, eight assists and three steals per
contest) and Will McClendon (16 points, five rebounds, four assists, three
steals per game) both earned MaxPreps Junior All-American honors last
season. McClendon is one of the top perimeter defenders in the nation,
while Collins is among the elite playmakers in the Class of 2021.
Key
returners Johnny Braggs and Ryan Abelman also factor into a guard-dominant lineup that will be difficult to slow down in transition and
beyond the arc. A trio of talented transfers in Darrion Williams, A.J. Storr and Daniel Rouzan expect to compete for a starting frontcourt spot after the Gaels finished 29-3 and No. 14 in the final MaxPreps Top 25.
The Las Vegas power's season doesn't start until Jan. 2, but Grant Rice's team is scheduled to compete in a
number of major events, including Hoophall West and the Big City Showdown, where they will face
preseason No. 10 Coronado.
