Basketball Preview: Beachside Barracudas vs. Oakleaf Knights
Two dominant guards in Morgan Cremen and Shelby Gaines are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Beachside Barracudas will be playing in front of their home fans against the Oakleaf Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Beachside unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Paxon School For Advanced Studies 45-41.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Madilyn (Madi) Ray, who dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 19 rebounds, and 13 blocks. She hasn't dropped below two blocks for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Ari Walker, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Oakleaf's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Ridgeview, falling 55-21. While losing is never fun, Oakleaf can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Panthers are ranked 61st).
Beachside's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-4. As for Oakleaf, they dropped their record down to 5-18 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
